UNDERSTANDING THE SNOW SQUIRRELS:
See the little fellow pictured below. He's the key as to why the squirrels here in Winnipeg can be out gathering nuts when the windchill is 35 to 40 below. All this time I never knew, but somebody enlightened me on the matter last Tuesday. The little devil's name is 'Scrat', and he's a "saber-tooth squirrel" from the animated movie 'Ice Age'. He even has his own animated short called 'Gone Nutty'. In the movie Scrat goes through an incredible series of misadventures in his quest to bury his acorn. To think, I have a movie star in my backyard and never knew it. I gotta get his autograph. Or maybe it's just that a place like Winnipeg is likely to harbour remnants of primitive life. Molly
