APPEAL FROM THE UNITED FARM WORKERS:

Last September the United Farm Workers filed for a union election at VBZ Grapes. At the time of application they had signed up 65% of the workers, but due to company intimidation they lost the election a week later. Since then VBZ has carried on an illegal purge of their workforces, firing union supporters and refusing to rehire union supporters this year. The California Labor Relations Board ruled against the company on April 7th and demanded that fired workers be reinstated with back pay. VBZ not only refused to obey the ALRB ruling but continued with their threat to blacklist union supporters this year. The UFW filed two additional complaints against the company on May 1st and May 23.

The grape season is now beginning, and the workers cannot afford to play a waiting game without a paycheck. The UFW is asking that supporters email the ALRB demanding that the process against VBZ be completely with due dispatch.
