RENEWING THE ANARCHIST TRADITION:
REGISTRATION FOR 8TH CONFERENCE NOW OPEN:
The 8th 'Renewing the Anarchist Tradition' conference will be held in Montpellier, Vermont this upcoming November 2-4. Sponsored by the Institute for Anarchist Studies these conferences aim to "bring together anarchists, anti-authoritarians and libertarians who want to critically engage both the tradition itself and the world in which we live. Participants and presenters at the conference thereby contribute to developing a more rigorous theoretical framework for anarchism as well as a stronger basis from which anti-authoritarian movements can organize and resist. ...We believe that the contemporary context makes it more important than ever to foster a space to collectively and honestly appraise the strengths as well as the weaknesses of different anarchist practices, platforms, convictions, dogmas, truisms and theories to help us to understand and ultimately transform the layered systems of domination and oppression that structure it."
The RAT is a "scholarly" venue in reference to the quality of the presentations, not to formal academic positions. As the organizing board says, "You do not have to be an academic to attend or present at RAT. Registration for this conference is limited to 150 people and will be open until October 12th at the latest. To get more information or to register see the link above or see HERE.
